Long time horseplayer since 1972 the year Secretariat won horse of the year as a two year old and then was sold for $6.08 million, prior to winning the Triple Crown, to a syndicate in order for owner Penny Tweedy to be able to pay inheritance taxes left by the death of her father.

Anyway, thought I'd ask if anyone has an opinion on the Louisiana Derby today. I'm looking at Fire Slam, Borrego and Wimbledon. Thinking about using them in an exacta box and trifecta box. Any thoughts?

Just woke up as I fell asleep in front of the TV and missed the race completely. Just checked the results to find out I won my exacta. I see Wimbledon won and Borrego came in second and the exacta paid $110 for $2. Can anybody who saw the race tell me how it unfolded? I was watching the show but fell asleep about 6:30 EST. Or is there a site on-line that I can watch the replay? Appreciate the help.

The pace was set too fast. Baffert had his horse placed just right and when he made his move, he just blew them away dow the stretch. Everyton in front of him was spent. Believe it was the second fastest time this hear tho.

Thanks for the run down. First time I've posted in the horse racing forum and it turns out to be a winner. Nice way to start. I usually follow the Derby preps and then the Triple Crown and Breeders Cup races as well as other Grade I races. Don't do the daily grind anymore, as I'm too old for that now. Hope to visit the forum off and on in the future. Best of luck to you with your plays. Thanks again.

Agree the pace was too fast and closers dominated. Congratulations on your exacta. You can see the replay at the Fair grounds site, fgno.com, probably available by Monday. Fire Slam also ran a good race as he was the only pace-setter that didn't completetly fall apart after the fast fractions. I have enjoyed your b-ball picks and look forward to some t-bred insight as well. I will also join in as this is the best time of year for horse racing.

Thanks for the site info. I'll try to check it out tomorrow. Glad to hear you have enjoyed my basketball selections. The upcoming week should be very interesting starting on Wednesday when the power conference tournaments get underway.

I'll check in on this forum on days when there are big Grade I races as well as the Derby preps and Breeder's Cup. Best of luck to you and thanks again for the information.
